Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist remained, properly speaking, unquestioned down to the time of the heretic Berengarius of Tours (d. 1088), and so could claim even at that time the uninterrupted possession of ten centuries. In the course of this dogma’s history there arose in general two great Eucharistic controversies. They are: –

1) The First Eucharistic Controversy – RADBERTUS AND RATRAMNUS

2) The Second Eucharistic Controversy – BERENGAR against LANFRANC
